BUILDING BRIDGES: INTER-CONGREGATION OF FORMATORS

By Christine Masivo

The essence of inter-congregation workshops for formators in the circles of Zimbabwe’s consecrated religious life lies in fostering collaboration, sharing best practices, and enhancing the quality of formation for future of consecrated men and women.
During the formation program of the formators a number of workshops are scheduled to provide a platform for formators from different congregations to come together, exchange ideas, and collaborate on common challenges and opportunities in religious formation. By sharing their experiences and insights, formators can learn from one another and enrich their own formation programs. Inter-congregation workshops offer opportunities for formators to engage in ongoing professional development. Through seminars, presentations, and discussions led by experts in various fields, the formators can enhance their knowledge and skills in areas such as theology, psychology, pastoral care, and leadership development.

Workshops focus on effective formation pedagogy, providing formators with tools and strategies for facilitating transformative learning experiences. This includes exploring innovative teaching methods, assessment techniques, and ways to integrate spirituality into the formation process.
In a diverse and multicultural context like Zimbabwe, inter-congregation workshops emphasize the importance of cultural sensitivity in formation. Formators learn how to adapt their programs to the cultural context of their candidates, respecting and honoring the diversity within religious life. This is more evident the various communities in the countries where members are from all over Zimbabwe and they have to live and learn from each other. More so to the missionary communities, cultural sensitivity is paramount to be able to live in harmony with the nature of missionary life of being send where there is need and ensuring that we live in harmony and charity as members of one congregation.Inter-congregation workshops provide opportunities for spiritual renewal and personal growth for formators. Through prayer, reflection, and spiritual exercises, formators can deepen their own relationship with God and strengthen their spiritual foundation, which in turn enhances their ability to accompany others on their spiritual journey. Workshops may also focus on strategic planning for the future of religious formation in Zimbabwe. Formators collaborate to identify emerging needs and trends in religious life, and develop strategies for addressing them effectively, ensuring the continued vitality and relevance of religious formation in the country.
Largely, the essence of inter-congregation workshops for formators in Zimbabwe’s consecrated religious life lies in fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and spiritual growth among those entrusted with the responsibility of forming future generations of religious leaders. Through these workshops, formators are empowered to fulfill their mission with renewed zeal and effectiveness, ultimately contributing to the flourishing of religious life in Zimbabwe and beyond.
