LOYOLA CENTRE FOR MEDIA AND COMMUNICATIONS
On November 15, 2024, the Loyola Centre for Media and Communication (LCMC) welcomed
representatives from DKA Austria, Ute Mayrhofer and Miss Nicole, for a productive discussion
on the progress of the Children’s Environmental Rights Project. The meeting celebrated key
milestones and showcased the project's transformative impact on children and their communities.
During the session, LCMC showcased the project’s accomplishments through a compelling
pictorial presentation and video, earning high praise from the DKA representatives. Miss
Mayrhofer expressed her admiration for LCMC's work, particularly commending the project
officers for their dedication in ensuring that the project goals are achieved. “This project is truly
a game-changer for the children. We deeply appreciate the generous support from the people in
Austria, whose contributions, no matter how small, make this work possible. I am optimistic that
the project will continue to create an even greater impact,” she noted.
The day’s activities included a visit to Edmund Rice Catholic School, where the project is being
implemented. The DKA representatives had an opportunity to interact with pupils and hear
firsthand accounts of the program’s benefits. Hanifa Makori, a student, shared, “I thank LCMC
for coming to our school. Ever since they arrived, we’ve learned to appreciate our environment
as a common home and to understand our responsibilities as children.”
Brother Wycliffe, the school principal, echoed similar sentiments. “LCMC has been instrumental
in developing our learners' confidence. We have noticed remarkable changes, and we pledge our
full support to ensure the continuity of this empowerment.”
The visit concluded on a high note with performances by the pupils, leaving the guests
entertained and impressed by their creativity and enthusiasm.
This collaborative effort between LCMC, DKA Austria, and Edmund Rice Catholic School
underscores the potential of empowering children to advocate for environmental stewardship and
inspires hope for a brighter, more sustainable future.
