LCMC Empowers Eldoret Youth with Skills and Hope Through Performance Art
In a bid to equip young people with essential skills for the future, the Loyola Centre for Media and Communications (LCMC) has continued its mission to empower the youth through transformative education. This time, the spotlight was on Eldoret, where 25 young individuals participated in a two-day workshop on Transformative Performance Arts Education. The event, held at Winstar Hotel, was spearheaded by LCMC's Programs Manager, Joy Kesenwa, and staff member Jared Chochi.

The workshop focused on various artistic disciplines, including photography, acting, and music,
aiming to provide participants with the tools to navigate the challenging economic landscape.
But beyond skill-building, the training emphasized the role of performance art in addressing
social issues. The young attendees identified pressing concerns such as corruption, gender-based
violence, unemployment, and drug abuse; issues that heavily affect the youth in Kenya.
Through this workshop, LCMC not only empowered these young people with practical skills but
also inspired them to use art as a vehicle for social change. The participants expressed
excitement about the potential of performance art to highlight and tackle these societal problems
in a manner that is impactful yet gentle.
As LCMC continues to empower the youth, this workshop in Eldoret showcases the
organization's dedication to creating opportunities and spreading hope, even in difficult times.
