LCMC Virtually engages Catholic Care for Children Institutions on Documenting Institutional impact
18 members from different Catholic Care for Children Institutions (CCC) within Malawi ,Uganda, Zibambwe and Kenya united virtually for a two-hours follow-up training on documenting Institutional impact facilitated by Loyola centre for media and communications (LCMC)
Catholic Care for Children International is a network of Catholic Sisters working together so that children have the opportunity to grow up in a loving family.Their mission in providing the best care possible for children,closely marries to the mission of LCMC in powering young people resilience against all the adversities in this digital age.
The two-hour interactive session facilitated by Joy Kesenwa and Susan Nzomo (LCMC Staff) ,saw the participants engaged in poster designing using Canva ( a graphic design platform that allows users to create a wide range of visual content, including social media graphics, presentations, posters, flyers among others).With the guidance of the facilitator ,the participants were able to design an organizational hiring poster and also given four posters on gratitude,new year wishes,policy change,and enrolment as a take away assignment.Practical engagement during the session made it very lively as participants followed step by step guidelines given by the facilitators. “Let’s keep the communication active and practice what we have learned because by practicing you understand more but by teaching or sharing with others you keep on learning more.’’ Mr.Benard, the CCC cordinator from Kenya, said as the session came to an end.
This virtual engagement opens a whole year interactions between Catholic Care for Children Institutions and LCMC .
The online interaction comes barely two months after a physical training that was done from 21 st – 24th November 2023. During the training last year, members from the different CCC’s were trained on how to tell stories about their childcare institutions to the world through various written,visual, and social media channels.“As I was preparing for my worskshops I used one of the AI tools taught by LCMC (which is an interactive presentation software that allows presenters to engage their audience through live polls, quizzes, word clouds, and other interactive features) to receive expectations from the participants and so on,so it is quite helping a lot and it motivates because as you use that you also build capacity in the participants on how they can use it…it became very exciting.” Said Jeremiah(one of the participants from Zambia . )
“I was trying to do a success story in our CCC program on some severely malnuourished children whom we could not think they can be rehabilitated,after learning in the session, I realised that unless you give the photos before and after our intervention the reader cannot really see the success story …so that is what I improved on.” Says Sr. Euphrasia from Uganda,excited about a session on success stories given by Sr.Santrina (From LCMC)
