LOYOLA CENTRE FOR MEDIA AND COMMUNICATIONS
In a vibrant celebration of environmental responsibility, Grade 6 pupils at Edmund Rice Primary School marked their final interaction of the year with Loyola Centre for Media and Communications (LCMC), a collaboration that has sparked a newfound passion for environmental stewardship among the young learners. This initiative is seen as a crucial step in reawakening their environmental protection duties, as called for by the United Nations, the Church, and the global community.
The pupils, who have become enthusiastic environmental advocates, expressed their
determination to take proactive roles both within the school and in their local communities. "I
was a bit insensitive to the issue of taking care of the environment because I did not feel the
motivation. But now, I feel the desire to keep the environment clean because it's our common
home," said Hanifa Makori, one of the participants in LCMC’s children environmental project.
Throughout the program, the students received training in environmental rights and practical
skills in digital advocacy and artistic production. These skills, honed under LCMC’s guidance,
will help the students raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation. With
the continued support of both their school and LCMC, these budding environmental champions
are now equipped to make a tangible impact.
Beyond environmental advocacy, LCMC’s involvement has also boosted the children’s confidence, empowering them to express their ideas boldly and creatively. This project, along with many others, demonstrates LCMC's commitment to empowering young people in the digital age, ensuring they are not only informed but also ready to take action for the good of the planet.
