One of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) call is the call echoed through the winds of change, urging communities worldwide to take a stand for the environment. The republic of Kenya had a tree planting day on 13 th November 2023, epitomizing a concerted effort towards a more sustainable and greener future. In relation to this, LCMC has all long been implementing a project on children’s environmental rights in Mukuru informal settlement, in Nairobi. The initiative began with a unique mentorship program, where environmentalists from LCMC guided the young minds on how to take care of their environment. These mentors imparted wisdom on the significance of preserving the environment, nurturing a deep understanding of the vital role trees play in maintaining ecological balance. This initiative not only left an indelible mark on the landscapes of Mukuru but also imprinted a profound lesson on the young minds involved. It instilled in them a sense of responsibility for the environment, fostering a generation of green guardians who would carry the torch of sustainability forward.
