LOYOLA CENTRE FOR MEDIA AND COMMUNICATIONS

LCMC March 30th 2023 Conference-Powering Young People Resilience And Dignity In A Digital Age

Loyola Centre for Media and Communications (LCMC) has conducted a nationwide survey on teenagers most of whom are in high school and young people 18 – 25 years old. Are you aware that mental health cases among young people are on the rise? Do you know that about half the students in college, university or out of school are financially struggling to meet their basic needs? While we think that secularization is responsible for youth disaffiliation from religious worship, justifiably so to some extent, do you know that young people point fingers to parents, religious leaders, teachers and indeed to themselves as being responsible for this emergingreality?

Do you know that young people are fully conscious when they use social media to do things that will upset their parents, guardians, religious leaders and friends if they got to know? These questions, among others, are adequately captured in our nationwide research report. LCMC is pleased to invite you to a national conference on March 30 – 31 st (Thursday and Friday), at Hekima Institute of Peace Studies and International Relations (HIPSIR) along RiaraRoad, Kilimani beginning 8 am to 3:30pm. National leaders, leading Civil Society Organizations that directly work with young people, religious leaders, teachers and the young people themselves will be part of the conference. The conference will focus on discussing the report in order to propose ways in which we can all contribute to powering the resilience of young people to navigate social challenges as well as tap into emerging opportunities in the ever advancing technology driven world
